The Future of Society Looks Bleak

After hearing radio spots for a certain web site over the last month, I wonder how much lower society can go. A certain web site (which I refuse to promote) is advertising on XM Radio promoting a dating service. This dating service has a rather unique twist; it is a dating site for married people. If you are looking for an affair, this site is for you.

The first time I heard about this site, I kind of rolled my eyes and thought how ridiculous something like this is. After a few weeks of advertising, the web site started to guarantee an affair or your money back. As much as I wanted this to be a joke, I don't think it is.

I'm guessing they don't get a lot of people coming back and saying they didn't have an affair. If someone is out looking, he or she is going to find it. It doesn't take a web site to find an affair. At the point that someone is hunting through a web site looking for someone to hook up with, that person has already committed to doing the deed. Why that person needs to use a web site is confusing. If someone needs it that bad, I'm sure someone down at the bar can address those needs for a lot less than what it likely costs to use that web site.

The Great Toy Run of '09

Every year I make a run to Target, Wal-Mart and Toys R Us among other places and see what sort of bargains I can grab from the clearance toys. The Great Toy Run of '09 has begun. This past weekend, I spent roughly $60 on stuff I don't need. Unfortunately 2/3 of the money I spent was at the now defunct K*B Toys. It was there that I bought a complete set of Transformers Heroes (movie edition) along with some other assorted Transformers and G.I. Joe figures. Erika found a Yoshi figure that found it's way to the counter as well. I grabbed even more Transformers Heroes figures at Sears which seems to only have toys during Christmas.

This doesn't include the two games (Ruckus and Killer Bunnies) I bought at the Calendar Club the previous weekend. I'm a sucker for deals, especially toys and games. I still have my eye on an exclusive G.I. Joe set that was half off it's $50 price tag and a 25th anniversary Optimus Prime (also half off) at Target. If they are still there this weekend, I think I was meant to have them, hopefully at 75% off.

Erika found it quite humorous that I would think nothing of the money I was throwing around on the toys, but refused to pay $60 for a pair of pants or a pair of shoes. It seems logical to buy many things instead of one thing for the same price, especially when the many things bring happiness and joy. I only buy clothes out of necessity. There is no joy in owning a pair of pants or shoes, but they are necessary if I want service at a restaurant (at least the shoes are).

Even Disney recognizes what sort of evil it has created. I received an e-mail talking about new items at the Disney Outlet.com. I hopped over to see if there was anything I might like and did a quick search for Nightmare hoping to find some Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. One of the items that popped up was a Hannah Montana book set. See for yourself.
