Happy Thanksgiving!! Hopefully all of you have (or will have) a good filling dinner. Now before you go surfing for porn, take a look at the new
Trivia section and read the review for
Love Actually
What a busy day. I spent most of the day preparing for my classes for next quarter. I knocked two out for the most part. Still need to augment my lesson plans. But I got the fortune of being asked to teach data structures next quarter last minute. I've made my decision and decided to do it. It should be a fun class. I've looked over the material and the book, even drug out my data structures book from college. I'm rather flattered that they would ask me. I'm really sick of teaching math. I can do it, but I have to put up with too many lazy people that don't even try to learn. Nothing says it gets better with this class, but at least I enjoy the subject matter more.
I also managed to do some e-mail maintenance. Cleaned up my Inbox and started making the transition of getting various lists transferred to different addresses. One of the many advantages of having your own domain. I also managed to get my wife's computer set up to receive her e-mail so she can stop using Juno. After nearly 7 years, it looks like Juno will be booted out of our house. And now, at 11:00, I bid you all a goodnight as I go to bed (now that I've babbled for no apparent reason).
For some reason the Magic bug has bitten me again. I don't mean abracadabra magic but the card game. I haven't played in ages, but for some reason I want to pick it up again. Maybe it's because there is very little in the way of decent CCGs out there. There are no Rage players out there locally to satiate my thirst. I'm basically stuck with one Doomtown player here in Cleveland. While I enjoy playing, it gets a little bored always playing the same person. Yes, both of these games are dead, but nothing has come out that can really take their place. Lord of the Rings was a nice novelty when it first appeared, but that wore off after playing people that own every card in the world. Thankfully, this Magic resurgance will be mainly against my wife who has asked to be more involved in the things I like and has played Magic with me before. I may go play casually at a local store, but hopefully on my game night I can play some Hero Clix, Doomtown or Mage Knight Dungeons. I think most of my playing time outside of casual play with my wife will be online. I've heard good things about the online game and with the advent of leagues and sealed deck play, the card pool is limited enough to keep everyone on a level playing field. No more of the heavy competition for me. It's all for fun. Too many people have a win, win, win attitude and their only objective is to try to beat you in one turn. Where's the fun in that?
800 x 600 resolution problems have been fixed. You shouldn't have to scroll across now to see the whole screen. I've got a review for
Radio coming down the pipe as well as setting up the trivia section. If you have any suggestions, feel free to send them to me.
So much for getting the
Brother Bear review up in "a day or two." I've been quite the busy one with preparing for the end of the quarter and my wife's birthday. It's up now even though it's two weeks late. I've also added a link on the left so that you can sign up to receive update notices via e-mail. I've noticed problems with 800x600 screen resolutions. I hope to have that corrected this week.
Wow, after nearly a year of planning and work, the near impossible is true - I've got my own web site. I had planned for this to be done over a year ago, but the real world got in the way. Thankfully I've been able to get my new schedule in order and have a little more time to do the things that I want to do.
The only link on the left that works is
Now Playing but check out the cool rollovers I made - there's something there for both dial-up and broadband users. I'm slowly working on getting each section set-up. I found out the hard way it's pretty close to impossible to create and keep every section updated with a full time job (not to mention a part-time one as well over the past 6 months). As I get a new section finished, I'll make an announcement here. But in the meantime, enjoy the site overview below:
Now Playing - my little review section covering games I'm playing and movies I've just seen and maybe some music. Currently with reviews on
The Mothman Prophecies and
Ghost Ship.
Brother Bear review coming in a day or two.
Trivia - a weekly trivia contest for bragging rights
Pet Peeves - a bulletin board for people to vent on current and previous topics
Weekly Topic - much like the pet peeves category, this section deals with current events and headlines
Old School - remember the 80's and 90's? Revisit the toys and fads of our youth
Game Table - being the gamer geek that I am, this section is a forum to discuss games (typically what I like to play, but I'm open to pretty much any game conversation)
Trading Post - Tired of that broken monitor sitting in the floor? Looking for a card or figure to complete a collection? Maybe someone has what you are looking for here.
