A new update has arrived. Using the inspiration from VH1's
I Love Toys, I posted a segment about Battle Beasts in the
Old School section.
From the
Who Cares Sports Department:
Why do we even have a post-season NIT basketball tournament? College basketball is the
only sport where mediocrity is given a tournament. Why should college teams that barely had a record over .500 get to play more games in a season that is of adequate length as it is? Should the NFL playoffs have a consolation bracket for those teams that were third in their division? It just doesn't make sense. When you win the NIT tournament do you scream "We're number 65! Woohoo!" or do you just hold up six fingers and 5 toes?
And, does anyone really care about the World Baseball Classic if you aren't Hispanic? Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are all over the WBC. But does it really matter that you won if no one else cares? Hey, I won my 6th grade spelling bee. Yeah, so what. It would be much better if we moved up the regular baseball season a month and then, after the MLB Championship Series, let the MLB champs take on the best that all the other countries have to offer. Have a real World Series where the best non-MLB stars of every country get to play.
As you may have noticed, the site has been very slow recently. I haven't gone to any movies in the last six or seven weeks and I haven't had the time I want to make any other new content. The next quarter starts on Monday and I'm working on getting everything ready.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not liking the flow of the site.
The Gameroom didn't develop as I had envisioned and the inspiration for
Old School seems to have faded. At least it HAD faded. Last night on VH-1, I found a new show that I immediately fell in love with. Going along with their whole
I love ______ series, VH-1 decided to make
I Love Toys which counts down the top 100 toys from our generation. I say our generation meaning those kids of the 80's who are thirtysomething now. It's a nice trip back to your childhood and if you had a sister, you can appreciate the stuff about Care Bears and My Little Pony.
The show is broken into 5 one-hour specials, each of them involving 20 of the top 100 toys. Last night they showed back to back episodes counting down from 100-61. Tonight, they are reshowing those episodes plus showing 60-41. The next two shows should be airing Thursday and Friday. If you like toys or liked your childhood in the 80's, watch it. It's funny and nostalgic.
Ok wrestling fans, if you are watching RAW tonight, you might see me on TV. The WWE is coming to Birmingham and I have tickets. I have no idea what's going on as far as storylines except that Cena and Edge are feuding. The last time I watched was right after Christmas and it seemed like I hadn't missed anything since I stopped watching months earlier. It's obvious I'm not that interested any more, so why am I going? I'm going just to go and watch. I like watching wrestling, but the WWE has been so jaded in their approach. The last time I can remember watching wrestling and enjoying it was when Eddie Guerrero died. I know that sounds horrible. It wasn't that I enjoyed watching because Eddie died, but the matches that week were completely independent, matching wrestlers from RAW and Smackdown. There were no stories, just wrestling matches that you would rarely see at any other time except perhaps at a pay-per-view. Tonight just might spark me to watch again if it is interesting.
Back to seeing me on TV, I am sitting opposite the ramp in the lower arena. If the cameras are placed with the ramp on the left of the screen, I will be sitting in the corner of the arena adjacent to the rear-right ringpost. Chances are you will never spot me. I will be wearing my RVD skeletal dragon t-shirt, so keep your eyes peeled. Let me know if you see me.
