From the Who Cares Sports Department:
Why do we even have a post-season NIT basketball tournament? College basketball is the only sport where mediocrity is given a tournament. Why should college teams that barely had a record over .500 get to play more games in a season that is of adequate length as it is? Should the NFL playoffs have a consolation bracket for those teams that were third in their division? It just doesn't make sense. When you win the NIT tournament do you scream "We're number 65! Woohoo!" or do you just hold up six fingers and 5 toes?

And, does anyone really care about the World Baseball Classic if you aren't Hispanic? Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are all over the WBC. But does it really matter that you won if no one else cares? Hey, I won my 6th grade spelling bee. Yeah, so what. It would be much better if we moved up the regular baseball season a month and then, after the MLB Championship Series, let the MLB champs take on the best that all the other countries have to offer. Have a real World Series where the best non-MLB stars of every country get to play.
