What's up with the weather? I get word from friends in New Orleans that it's snowing down there, but here in Tuscaloosa it's just rain. How does that happen? It might make sense if New Orleans were in the mountains, but areas closer to the equator than Tuscaloosa, should not get snow before Tuscaloosa.
Personally, I'm finding it hard to believe that Tuscaloosa is expecting 1-2 inches of snow (as reported by the University). Most weather stations are barely mentioning the S word other than to say the rain and snow will be mixed. Temperatures are not even expected to be close to freezing until late tonight. It seems pretty unlikely that any snow would stick, but what do I know.
So, we shall see. Snow in New Orleans means that pretty much anything is possible. Maybe if I wish real hard we will get enough snow to give me a three day weekend. But, I don't think any amount of snow will get me into the Christmas spirit. Hard to believe it's two weeks away.
I think I have a better understanding of what it is like to have kids now that we have adopted a new six month old kitten. Actually, the new kitten (Topaz) isn't the problem. The problem is the introverted older cat (Kitty). She is acting like a spoiled brat. She won't eat when the little one is in the same room and frequently begs for the kitten food instead of eating her own. If Topaz touches Kitty's stuff, Kitty squawks and hisses. Kitty has gotten into the habit of trying to scare Topaz by chasing her around the apartment. It looks like playing until Topaz goes into hiding and Kitty tries to bully her way to Topaz and gives a few swats. It will take a little while for them to adjust, but I absolutely hate being the referee. I want both of them to be happy. Things would be so much better if Kitty weren't being such a turd. If we completely fawned over Topaz all the time, I could understand, but I spend most of my time trying to give her my attention which she disregards because she wants to be pissy.
