***WARNING***
This blog is not the least bit PC. If you are easily offended or a dirty hooker, move along. The whole Imus event that has been brewing over the past week is just pissing me off. First of all, I'm pissed that he got fired. There was no reason he should have been fired. Everybody against Imus wants to take one statement that he made out of context and treat him like a bigot. Imus does a comedic morning show on radio. What he did was a bit referencing the Spike Lee movie
School Daze. I've seen nothing in the news about the end of the bit where he said the Rutgers vs. Tennessee game was a Jiggaboo vs Wannabees thing. He tied the whole thing together, but no one sees that. People want to focus on "nappy-headed hos". Is it just me or is Jiggaboo more derogatory?
I don't see Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson saying anything about the Jiggaboo statement. I refuse to call them reverends. I think I'm more of a reverend than they are. If they are such great men of God, why don't they forgive Imus for what was said and accept his apology? Instead, they demand his firing, saying that the two week suspension was not enough. I'm so tired of them thinking they represent the entire black community. They are nothing more than egotistical spotlight whores. Oops, better fire me for that. Why don't they buy some tights and a cape if they want to be the defenders of black injustice?
Why is it that a nearly 67 year old white man gets the boot for saying something like "nappy headed ho" while much worse things are said on the air every day. Need I even mention the rap lyrics today? Why is it that Star (a black radio personality of the Star & Buc Wild Morning Show) referred to a caller as a "nappy headed nigger whore" and another caller a "dirty spic" in 2001 without any punishment at all? It took comments about molesting another DJs 4-year old girl in 2006 for him to get fired. What about Rosie O'Donnell? She consistently attacks people verbally but yet she's allowed to stay on the air. Should Eric on
Amazing Race get kicked off for calling one of the beauty queens a "dirty hooker"? By the way, that is one of my favorite insults ever.
Imus wins out in the end. He will probably relax for a few weeks and then start a show on satellite radio making more than he did on CBS or MSNBC. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can whine all they want. I hope Imus sends them a Christmas card thanking them for their help.
