The Mets are hanging on for dear life. It's practically assured that they won't make it to the playoffs. From the looks of it, they are going to take out as many other teams as possible. They made a pretty big dent in Florida's hopes at the beginning of last week. Today, they totally wiped out Washington's hopes. Next in line is Philly. With a little help from Washington, the Mets have a chance at grabbing second place in the East. In order to make it to the playoffs, the Mets have to win all of their games and hope that Houston loses all of theirs (along with Philly and Florida). Stranger things have happened I suppose.
Today, I posted a new
CyberQuickie for
War of the Ring, an RTS set in the world of Middle Earth. Give it a gander to see if it's worth digging out of a bargain bin.
Finally G4 has listened. When G4 took over Tech TV, many of the quality shows on Tech TV were canned. Loyalists of Tech TV have complained and their screams of agony have been heard. G4 has brought back
Call for Help, the show about fixing tech problems. They also talk about lots of nice little gadgets, tech tips and web sites as well. This is not to be confused with the inferior
Attack of the Show, previously known as
Screen Savers. I really don't like the turn that they made with
Attack of the Show. Thankfully, they kept some of their better segments such as "It came from Ebay". You'd be amazed at what crazy things people will sell.
While you are here, check out the new review in
Now Playing for
The Island. How did this summer bomb hold up to my scrutiny? Read it for yourself.
Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) are starting to emulate the real world. A new "feature" of patch 1.7 for World of Warcraft has introduced virtual AIDS to the world. Apparantly, the god of blood (Hakkar) gives adventurers the disease in a new which they then take back to towns and villages. Unlike AIDS in the real world, characters contract the disease simply by being near the infected characters, thus the virus is spreading throughout the land like wildfire. Lower level characters are immediately dying when contracting the disease. Although Blizzard Entertainment has no official word on the problem, they are working on a cure. Chances are they will have the virus cured by week's end. If only a cure for real-world AIDS was that easy.
Welcome to the new site. It doesn't look very new, but there have been some definite changes. If you look to your left, you will notice that the message boards have been taken down; they never took off like I had hoped. In its place is the new
CyberQuickies section, previously inside the
Gameroom. To make up for the lack of viewer input, I have added the ability to leave comments on the blog. I guess that means I need to add interesting posts more frequently.
New today is an addition to the
Gameroom about the new card game from Wizards of the Coast called
Hecatomb. If you like dark games and the concept of
Magic, this game might be for you.
Here I am back at the daily grind. The weekend in Atlanta was a welcome relief. Right now, I'm trying to hit my yearly quota of KISS in one sitting. I've just watched 3 episodes in a row of
Gene Simmons' Rock School and now I'm watching
When KISS Ruled the World.
Gene Simmons' Rock School is interesting to say the least. Gene Simmons went to a boarding school in England to try to make a band out of a group of stodgy 13 year old children. It's not as funny as I thought it would be, but it's not bad.
Now that I'm back, it's time to start working on the web site again. I've just posted a review of
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Enjoy this very late review of one of the summer's best movies.
