Department Store Idiots (part 1)

How much political correctness is considered too much? Apparently Macy's is taking away anything that has the phrase Merry Christmas on it and replacing the phrase with Happy Holidays or Season's Greetings. Is this really necessary? Is Merry Christmas that offensive to atheists, Jews and other religious factions? I certainly don't understand this decision. Where does it end? Will Happy Easter banners be replaced with Happy Spring? I suppose changing Happy Thanksgiving to "Happy Honoring of the Day when Native Americans and Native Englishmen (and women) ate Native Vegetables and Animals of the Future Northeastern United States" would be too much to add to a banner.

Department Store Idiots (part 2)

Not that Target is really a department store, but I certainly don't understand the uproar people are making about Target not allowing The Salvation Army to solicit outside Target's stores. It's not like this was a rash decision made by Target. The Salvation Army has known since the first of the year. What bothers me the most is the fact that people are boycotting Target because of their decision with no clue as to why the decision was made. If these boycotters would take the time to do a little more reading, they would find out that Target made the decision in order to be fair to all charitable organizations. They are choosing NOT to show preferential treatment and people are all up in arms. Are these boycotters also boycotting Barnes & Noble and Toys R Us who have similar policies? Only in America is being fair considered wrong.
